Fall in Japan is gorgeous. It didn’t arrive until late (at least by what I’m used to) but when it did, it was beautifully colourful. Fall in Japan is one of the busiest tourist seasons and it was very noticeable in Kyoto- there was people everywhere.
I took this photo at the Fushimi Inari Taisha (November 28, 2010). If you’ve seen the Memoirs of a Geisha movie than you’ve seen shots of the shrine- it has thousands of the red torii gates, all over the mountain.
Also, if you’ve have inari zushi (sushi that is deep friend tofu filled with rice)- this is where the name is from. Wikipedia tells me that Inari is the god of rice, which would explain it.
